The ergonomic pick-up point of the Rotomat® Office Carousel enables fast, efficient and route-optimized archiving processes.
Witt Group is one of Europe's leading mail order companies in clothing and textiles. During the busiest periods, up to 100,000 orders are shipped per day. Witt is a member of the Otto Group and conducts business in 12 countries through its mail-order catalog as well as 19 online stores.
To prepare for the expected business growth, Witt Group has invested heavily in expanding its supply and distribution centre in Weiden, Germany. In archiving documents, Witt relies on Hänel's storage expertise and technology. To automate the archive of inspection documents and the collection of material samples, two Hänel Rotomat® office carousels were installed, which improved the efficiency of the processes.
“Previously, documents were sorted, compiled and stored in DIN A4 folder folders by item number. However, as the range of clothing grew enormously, the archiving of documents and samples began to spiral out of control,” says Petra Irlbacher, head of the goods inspection management team.
Today, inspection documents are neatly sorted and archived in vertical DIN A4 hanging folders in two Hänel Rotomat® office carousels. All hanging folders have barcode labels, and thanks to the “vertical ferris wheel” principle of Hänel systems, the archives take up little space. Unlike complex shelf-based archiving, which used folders organized by product number, the Hänel Rotomat® solution is more efficient as there is a folder for each product model.
Advantage: Thanks to the barcode label, each product model has only one filing slot in the system. When the folder is deleted, space is freed up and can be assigned to another product. All product information and descriptions are stored in Witt's proprietary IT management system, and the information is also displayed on the terminal of each Hänel office carousel during archiving and retrieval. Hänel's management software controls both office carousels and seamlessly communicates with Witt's enterprise system.
Each Hänel Rotomat® carousel has 12 levels and each tier has eight pull-out units that pull 92 vertical DIN A4 hanging folders. The inverter ensures that the vertical rotation of the system is smooth and quiet.
