In Germany alone, ALSCO washes and cleans around 60,000 pieces of linen and up to 100,000 workwear. The ALSCO office in Kaiserslautern is equipped with the latest machinery and advanced information technology.
The washed clothes are stored in the containers of the system neatly in stacks. One container can hold up to 18 stacks, and one stack can hold up to ten clothes. Each container has frame mounts to ensure that the stack remains sturdy and does not move from its place.
Five Hänel lift systems replaced two external storage areas — the capacity of these areas is now concentrated in automated systems. This reduces storage costs and makes staff work more efficient. In addition, the storage floor area required has been reduced to only 40 m².
All items of clothing are registered in the warehouse management system using bar codes. When washed clothes are placed in Lean-Lift® elevators, sensors measure the heights of the stacks so that they can be placed at the correct height and neatly in containers. This compact solution allows you to store more than 30,000 items of clothing protected from dust and dirt in space-saving Hänel systems.
The entire laundry inventory is managed With ABEL warehouse control modulespecially developed for all ALSCO laundries worldwide. MP100D Central Controller manages the storage locations of all five Lean-Lift® systems through an interface customized by Hänel's experts.
When the barcode of an order is scanned, the inventory management system sends the information to the Lean-Lift® elevator. The product number and title are clearly visible on the touch screens of Lean-Lift® devices thanks to Hänel's web server software. Workers can quickly retrieve the clothes and transfer them to the laundry cart, where they will be prepared for delivery. The whole process is efficient and flawless. In addition, new employees quickly learn how to use the storage system thanks to a simple control panel.
